It’s may seem a daunting task trying to style your holiday home to suit everyone. This is impossible but here are some very simple tips to point you in the right direction, addressing style and most importantly durability.

Keep it simple

Choosing pains and trimmings can be overwhelming and if not steered in a clear direction you could easily get swept away. Remember, keep it simple. Light coloured paints make a space feel airy and light, keep your colours simple. Carefully selecting art work is a perfect way to create interest but also maintaining clean simple lines.

Think calm, think de clutter. Remove any knickknacks or personal belongings, this will lend itself to a calm and clean environment. Plus, less dusting!

Reflect your surroundings

Guests want to feel at home and embrace their surroundings. If you live in the country, bring the inside in; calm greens and autumnal tones give your holiday home some personality. Do you have a local artist nearby that paint’s landscapes? If so, showcase their work. From country to coast to city, make the most of where you live and let your guests feel connected.

If you’re looking for some great art pieces, consider looking at SJB Fine Art, I highly recommend!

Quality and durability are key

Want to know the winning combination for a successful holiday home? Quality and durability. Pick furnishings that will last; a good handmade pair of curtains made of a durable washable faux silk or a cotton/ viscose mix will withstand the elements through the years. Plump feather cushions that will never go flat are a winning combination. Be prepared to change your cushions more regularly to maintain a clean, fresh and beautiful holiday home.

Invest in a good sofa, a thick pile fabric or a durable leather. Your guests’ comfort is crucial in a successful holiday let and soft furnishings play a huge part. Don’t let a good thing down by scrimping on the sofa!

Good luck with furnishing your holiday home, remember quality and durability are the perfect combination!
